Marilyn Borglum is an American painter whose work explores personality and human perception. Her works, which range from representative portraiture to crude surreal environments, are heavily reliant on metaphoric symbolism and memory. Raised during the latter half of the Cold War, the artist uses subjects of propaganda and whitewashing associated with the nuclear arms race and its concurrent product marketing to draw parallels to, and illuminate the vulnerability of, the human psyche to repetitive manipulative messaging and personalities.
